Handmade greetings card: “die cut purple townhouses – cartref newydd”

Description Purple is my favourite colour. It has been my favourite colour since I was five years old and found out it was Donny Osmond’s favourite colour. I’m now 53 and it’s still my favourite colour. There are eight – yes, eight, wyth, ocho, huit, otte, åtta, acht, vuit, oito – shades of purple in this greetings card. EIGHT. Let’s just hope the person celebrating a move to a new home who receives this card also likes purple, or we’re all jiggered. I’ve die-cut a row of assorted townhouses in a very dark purple card. I’ve then cut the entire ensemble again six times using six different shades of purple. Having cut them all into individual houses, I’ve stuck one of each colour over the corresponding house on the original strip, using sticky pads which give the whole card a subtle 3D-ness. Finally I’ve heat embossed ‘cartref newydd’ onto dark purple card cut into a little plaque, using silver embossing powder. This is a 6×6″ (15x15cm) greetings card with matching white envelope. The card is supplied in a cellophane bag to keep it protected until use.
